What if you interrupt the boot process (hit a spacebar before
the 10 seconds are up)...

disk0s4a> set kern.vm.kmem.size=67108864

where 67108864 = 64*1024*1024.  You could even err on the safe side
and make it half that or 32MB.

From /boot/defaults/loader.conf 

#kern.vm.kmem.size=""           # Sets the size of kernel memory (bytes)

Will that help?  This is untried!
