BSD is based on UNIX and enhancements from the CSRG, NT is based on
the stuff nightmares are made from.

They are very different, but eventually you'll wonder why you used
anything but BSD in the first place.

Here's some good titles to check out if you want to learn FreeBSD/UNIX:

The Complete FreeBSD (by Greg Lehey)
Harley Hann's Student Guide to Unix
Unix Secrets

I'll have to admit the learning curve for Unix is a bit high, but
the flexibility and payoff are worth it.
