Except that it doesn't, out of the box, in an xterm.  I would
expect that a lot of new users do use X, at least part of the
time!  I've seen at least a few support questions on the topic
so far, which is why I'm thinking about the best thing to do for
new users.

I'll work on, at least, a Handbook or FAQ entry on the topic
soon.
