OK, I started with NetBSD's getaddrinfo.c and merged in the FreeBSDisms.
I'm testing it now.  If you don't mind, I'll forward you the code/patch 
off list, and I'd like you to give it a once over.  I'll integrate it
with the patch set on my web site later tonight.
