Ok. I hooked up an external CD drive. This one reports as Toshiba (but is a
RRD45 with it's jumper not set to DEC inquiry string).

So: it appears that isp is acting differently than sym. Where sym appears to
DTRT. Note that there are multiple Qlogics in the system, don't get
confused.
