Yep, you do..the shared library is preloaded by the dynamic linker,
which means it has to be the same binary format.

Anyway, I made a port of this: /usr/ports/audio/linux-vsound. The
linux_devtools environment wasn't complete enough to build this
natively, though it's probably just a matter of adding the right rpms
which configure and libtool et al expect to have present. I compiled
it on a Redhat box instead. It works very nicely!
