I doubt he would state it explicitly, but his actions seem to indicate
such motives.  I mean, Bill Gates claims *his* motivation is giving
customers what they want.  :-)

You *completely* lost me here.  Need more info.  ;-)
Though it seems to me the revolution *has* been gnuified, but is just
showing indications of running out of steam (read: venture capital) as a
viable business (as opposed to development) model.
