It was there that I learnt all I know about hardware engineering. The 7600 was built on banks of removable "modules"..when a faulty one was found it was extracted with a special tool and replaced. To find a faulty module when the diagnostics were vague the engineers resorted to a technique known as "shock testing". This involved hitting the module with a small hammer to see if the diagnostic information would become more helpful. I have often thought of applying this technique to the various bosses I have had in my life to see if I can get them to make sense.
