Well, the original question was about packages and ports.
And this *is* a FreeBSD mailing list.
I think a context was implied here.
Besides, don't think that packages would work very well on a non-FreeBSD
machine, either.

I don't think you read my original mail very carefully.
I was *discussing* how to use ports to get a different configuration than you
can install with a port.
