Howdy,

I'm very interested in the idea of ports that replace parts of the
base system. I recently added this functionality to the bind8 port in
fact. I notice that an increasing number of ports are providing this
function as well, and I wonder if it would be worthwhile to standardize on
a convention for Makefile options for this. I used REPLACE_SYSTEM_BIND in
bind8 off the top of my head, but the more I think about it, I think that
something like PORT_REPLACES_BASE_FOO might be more useful. This could be
put in /etc/make.conf without fear that the user would forget what it
means some point down the road. It's a little wordy, but I think it's
quite clear.

What do y'all think? I'm open to suggestions for a better/shorter
name, but I think the basic idea is sound....

Doug
