You and Doug seem to be talking past each other.

1) The buildworld and installkernel targets are supposed to work.  In
   fact, they _do_ work at the moment, for a sufficiently old / new
   installation.

2) As always with -CURRENT, it's possible to install a bum world /
   kernel.  You may have such an installation.  If so, digging out of
   the hole may be difficult.  A plan will emerge.

Please stay tuned, and try not to let a rough moment on the -CURRENT
timeline bring you down to the point where you start slinging around the
old "fine, I'm going back to Linux" dagger.  It's not much of a
motivator.
