Hi */*,

sometimes I'd like to read manpages or docs of ports/packages but
without the need to build and install the complete ports first.=20

Maybe something like that already exists, I would like to have
"doc-only" packages or "packagename-manpage.tgz" as packages.

The idea is, to collect docs and manpages while running the
"release-package build" and build some small doc-packages from it.

In the ports a target "make install-doc" may just check for
doc-packages and install them. When building the complete port, there
might be a "make deinstall-doc" to avoid conflicts between (older)
doc-packages and (newer) files from the port.=20

A target "make package-doc" might build a doc-package from the actual
sources (and might be available to other systems).

The target "make package" might include "package-doc" (if not disabled).

Just an idea.

Regards
