Anyone still remember? Kris? The problems were mostly pkg-plist-related, afaicr. i.e. extra files/dirs left behind when ruby packages were built against 1.8.3. If you'd like to be cautious and/or avoid another plist fiasco, I can run this through a package build once you're confident of it.
