Odd because both the dmesg and Xorg log says you have a ATI Radeon
VE/7000 QY, which isn't on the ATI driver's supported list.

What happens if you explicitly disable DRI?  (Comment out 'Load "dri"'
in the Modules section of xorg.conf).
