Grrr, this is one design "feature" of BSD disklabels that I was hoping might finally go away. But it seems the GPT designers made the same mistake :( It's quite annoying to not be able to simply dd a partition without having to fix up the offsets. The GEOM container-like metaphor is very nice but it sucks that the on-disk formats don't match. Craig
