Subject: Does quota still require a custom kernel in FreeBSD 9?

Just wondering if a custom kernel with options QUOTA
is still needed in FreeBSD 9. I have no test server
available right now to test this.

According to the handbook it is needed, but I found
in a post from 2011 that it would be entered into
GENERIC, so the handbook statement might be old?

My reason for asking is that I'm about to convert
from source build to freebsd-update in all servers,
so I would like to revert to GENERIC wherever possible.

(If it is still needed, are there any plans for
removing this need?)

Thanks!
