Hi all, I have been trying to install the jre on a free bsd machine and I am not successful yet. I downloaded the tar file jre1_1_5i_V98-2-25.tar.gz from the site http://www.freebsd.org/java. I have never been able to extract it successfully. Previously some recipeints of this mailing list said that Netscape might be messing with the download. I tried Internet Explorer, and it still has the same problem. The tar command does manage to extract some files under the lib directory; but, it terminates with a message as follows: "tar: skipping to next file header." I don't see the "jre" binary among the files it extracts. The other option is to use ftp. The ftp link (ftp://ftp.luth.se/pub/unix/jdk/FreeBSD/) seems to be broken. The server seems to be down. Could someone please re-establish this server or advise me on other methods to ftp the jre?
