After a recent reboot (new kernel) on a 2.2.6-STABLE box, my de1 card started reporting "no carrier": de0: flags=8843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet 10.0.1.1 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 10.0.1.255 ether 00:c0:6d:15:00:71 media: 100baseTX status: active de1: flags=c943<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,PROMISC,SIMPLEX,LINK2,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet 207.109.3.210 netmask -0xffffff00 broadcast 207.109.3.255 ether 00:c0:6d:13:d0:44 media: 100baseTX status: no carrier lp0: flags=8810<POINTOPOINT,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 ep0: flags=8843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet 10.0.0.1 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 10.0.0.255 ether 00:20:af:37:98:ac de0 is connected to a 100baseTX hub, ep0 is connected to a 10baseT hub, and de1 is connected via a crossover cable to a Netspeed ADSL "modem". The strange part is de1 seems to be working properly, it passes packets just fine. The link light on both the de1 card and Netspeed is on. I've tried taking the card out of promisc mode, removing "LINK2", and bringing the interface down and back up, but it's had no effect. Is this a bug in the de driver, a misbehaving card, or just operator headspace? To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
