SDSL is not "Synchronus", it is "Symmetrical", in other words you get
the same bandwidth in both directions, as opposed to Assymmetrical DSL
where (usually) the "download" bandwidth is greater than "upload."

Most (all?) DSL providers quote the total throughput. If you buy 512K
SDSL, you get 256K up and down. 512K ADSL is usually 384K downstream
and 128K upstream. If you can get 768K bps down and 768K bps up
simultaneously, you're getting exactly what you paid for, even if it
is not what you wanted or expected.

You should also note that DSL and T1 have nothing to do with each other.
