using 4.2-stable, i've been running into the following problem,
consistently, across machines, with cvs code starting from around
christmas or so (still hasn't been fixed).
during buildworld:

===> libcrypt
sh /usr/src/tools/install.sh -c -o root -g wheel -m 444   libscrypt.a
/usr/obj/usr/src/i386/usr/lib
sh /usr/src/tools/install.sh -c -o root -g wheel -m 444   libscrypt_p.a
/usr/obj/usr/src/i386/usr/lib
sh /usr/src/tools/install.sh -c -s -o root -g wheel -m 444
libscrypt.so.2 /usr/obj/usr/src/i386/usr/lib
ln -sf libscrypt.so.2 /usr/obj/usr/src/i386/usr/lib/libscrypt.so
===> ../secure/lib/libcrypt
sh /usr/src/tools/install.sh -c -o root -g wheel -m 444 bsd.README
bsd.dep.mk bsd.doc.mk bsd.docb.mk bsd.info.mk bsd.kern.mk bsd.kmod.mk
bsd.lib.mk bsd.libnames.mk bsd.man.mk bsd.obj.mk bsd.own.mk bsd.port.mk
bsd.port.post.mk  bsd.port.pre.mk bsd.port.subdir.mk bsd.prog.mk
bsd.sgml.mk bsd.subdir.mk sys.mk  /usr/obj/usr/src/i386/mk
usage: install [-CcDpsv] [-f flags] [-g group] [-m mode] [-o owner]
file1 file2
       install [-CcDpsv] [-f flags] [-g group] [-m mode] [-o owner]
file1 ...
             fileN directory
       install -d [-v] [-g group] [-m mode] [-o owner] directory ...
