= crash I tried to update my IBM X40's X11 install, I removed all the old packages and started from scratch (/usr/local was empty) so that I would know that everything is up to date. When X starts (doesn't matter how, xdm, startx, Xorg) the system just freezes. The external monitor lost its signal, network connections froze. Only option is hard reset. When it came back up Xorg.0.log was zero bytes. I have tried with/with out the docking station, with a new xorg.conf (created by Xorg -configure), disabling accel and dri. Same results. Anyone have any pointers on how to debug a video driver (I have already found [1] [2] but the more suggestions the better)? What do I need to recompile? Suggested compiler flags? Suggested locations for break points while I try to step my way through the driver? Any help appreciated.
