Right, not part of the protocol, so there would be no option for that. You can either manually drag-N-drop deleted mail, before you purge it, to a new folder you create on the server, called Trash, or whatever. Or... perhaps you can set up a filter to move/copy deleted mail to your new Trash folder, etc... this might work. -- Gary Department of Redundancy Department.
