Hello everyone,

 I've got a shiny new Supermicro H8QG6-F w/ 4x Opteron 6168 12 core
CPUs and 128GB of DDR3 1333 ECC RAM onto which I've been trying to
install 8.1-RELEASE-amd64.

Here's the error I get when I disable ACPI at the boot loader menu:

-- snip --
Fatal trap 12: page fault while in kernel mode
cpuid = 0; apic id = 00
fault virtual address	= 0xffffff8000237038
fault code = supervisor read, page not present
instruction pointer	= 0x20:0xffffffff801e1466
stack pointer = 0x28:0xffffffff81281820
frame pointer = 0x28:0xffffffff81281850
code segment = base 0x0, limit 0xfffff, type 0x1b
				= DPL 0, press 1, long 1, def32 0, gran 1
processor eflags	= interrupt enabled, resume, IOPL = 0
current process = 0 (swapper)
trap number = 12
panic: page fault
cpuid = 0
Uptime: 1s
Automatic reboot in 15 seconds - press a key on the console to abort
-- snip --

At first, I assumed the error meant that I must have some bad memory,
so I ran a memtest on everything and it came back w/ no errors. Next,
I yanked three of the processors and all but 16GB of the memory and
retried the install but I got the same error.

I seem to get a bit further with 8.0-RELEASE-amd64 and disabling ACPI
but it hangs at 'Trying to mount root from ufs:/dev/md0'

I even read in the forums that I might have some luck w/ 6.4-RELEASE
but all I get with 6.4 is:

-- snip --
kmem_suballoc: bad status return of 3.
panic: kmem_suballoc
Uptime: 1s
-- snip --

I've successfully installed both Ubuntu 10.10 amd64 and Windows
Server 2k8 on the machine and I even ran some hardware tests overnight
but received no errors.

I'm not sure where to go from here. Any ideas?

If it helps, here's a link to the motherboard information
