OK.  You're right on about the dip switches.  Flipping any one of them will 
get the SRM console on the monitor.  However, you aren't exactly right about 
how it won't work with FreeBSD.  In my case, I already had a system 
installed, so it might well be hanging with the installer.  While in the 
loader, everything is peachy perfect.  But beyond that isn't so great.  I 
can see the boot message, but getty won't come up on it, and I think it's 
lost keyboard access (DDB hotkey doesn't work).  Moreover, sc0 (syscons) is 
still not getting detected, which would explain all the symptoms (no pcvt, 
either, as far as I can tell).  Any further clues?

Also, did you mean that it won't work with console, or with the X Window 
System?  I'm more interested in just a text-based console for now.
