I have been trying to attain a colour depth greater than 8bit in X but to no
avail..

ctrl-alt-+ only toggles between 8bit 640x480 and 800x600 for me..

i tried hacking my XF86Config file so there is no 8 bit referance at all,
but when i run startx it claims 8bit is the default and cannot find it.

i have a matrox mystique with 2 megs ram, tried both option 410 and 430 from
the vid card database thingy, neither really give me any great res/colour
options to choose from.

any ideas? i was just thinking about maybe trying the graphical setup, not
at home right now to try that though.
