I investigated this today and found that my Eterm sets status to
^J. This is really annoying, since ^J is return. I fixed it by
putting the line
stty status ^T
into /etc/profile . Also, if you don't want to fix it that way,
whenever it gets stuck like that push ^D twice and it will start
working again.
