I only have a couple of things to say to you about the ports
collection. First off, you must be doing something wrong because I have
NEVER had any of these problems. Second, many people's main reason for
moving to FreeBSD _IS_ the ports tree. All you need to do is be sure
you're connected to the internet when you go and type make somewhere, and
all dependencies are fetched. I have had very few problems with the ports
tree, and it has only made my life easier.
