as I remember. Will Andrew (CC:) began to do that some time ago.
no sure about a consensus about his point of view.

if a patch-xx is applicable (even if updates are needed), left him
like this. new patches-xx may have new-names.

cd /usr/doc/en_US.ISO_8859-1/books/porters-handbook
make PRINTERDEVICE=txt.gz
