With a 6.0 Release I could not even boot with ACPI. I had to put in
/boot/loader.conf
hint.acpi.0.disabled=0
hint.apic.0.disabled=1

At that point sysctl variables for acpi showed

hw.acpi.battery.life: -1
hw.acpi.battery.time: -1
hw.acpi.battery.state: 7
hw.acpi.battery.units: 1
hw.acpi.battery.info_expire: 5

Upgraded to stable today.
I am now able to boot without having to disable acpi or apic.
However, the sysctl variables still show the same values.
