Subject: recompiled 6.0 does not boot -- need help !!

dear all,

i recompiled kernel (and world) and it does not boot anymore. even
loader does not start. :-((
[note: version 6.0-release]

now, when i think of it, i suspect the reason might be CPUTYPE=pentium-m
-- long time ago i read either in freebsd or linux mailing lists
something along the lines that CPU is not fully initialised when it may
encounter a pentium-m specific instruction generated by compiler.
i'm not sure whether this is the case but if it is, it definetely should
be clearly noted somewhere in make.conf example and man pages and the
handbook. (!)

now, that my system no longer boots, what can i do to make it run again
pls??
mind that i'd like not to reinstall from scratch, rather to recompile
and reinstall the faulty kernel. (and keep my data of course)

any advice appreciated!

many thanks in advance,

martin
