Check browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.feeds.section.topstories in about:config

No clue. Wrong list. gecko@ doesn't touch Pocket code/prefs.

VPN or did you define the following?

  pref("browser.search.region", "US");
  pref("browser.search.countryCode", "US");
