The tar in FreeBSD's base system should be fixed (either
by patching it or by importing a newer gtar, or another
tar version like star, if license permits and no features
are lost).

It is really a shame that FreeBSD's tar cannot handle
files larger than 2 Gbyte, even though our filesystem
could handle them long before Linux could.

Just my 0.02 Euro.
