Well, the "correct" way to do this would be to use the releaseinfo element in the places concerned - I've attached an example diff for the French handbook (fr for very mundane reasons that I won't concern anyone with here). What's wrong with this? It doesn't currently produce any output to clearly differentiate the two. That, however, is a toolchain issue that could be corrected quite easily. What's good about this? Everyone is using the same, correct, way of marking up non-translated sections/chapters which keeps the sticklers happy. Even better, everyone can render it whichever way they damn well please, which keeps the anarchists from upsetting all of the "normals". Obviously, I'm not on a translation team (the only other language I speak well is "foul"), but these are the provisions that DocBook has made for this situation. Anything else will make transitioning to anything else a major PITA if/when it ever becomes necessary. Ceri --=20 It is not tinfoil, it is my new skin. I am a robot. --54ZiyWcDhi/7bWb8 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="fr.handbook.diff" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Index: mac/chapter.sgml =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D RCS file: /home/ncvs/doc/fr_FR.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/mac/chapter.sgml,v retrieving revision 1.1 diff -u -r1.1 chapter.sgml --- mac/chapter.sgml 30 Jul 2004 07:33:45 -0000 1.1 +++ mac/chapter.sgml 20 Sep 2004 17:34:05 -0000 @@ -4,8 +4,11 @@ --> =20 <chapter id=3D"mac"> + <chapterinfo> + <releaseinfo>Traduction en Cours</releaseinfo> + </chapterinfo> =20 - <title>Mandatory Access Control ** Traduction en Cours **</title> + <title>Mandatory Access Control</title> =20 <sect1 id=3D"mac-synopsis"> <title>Synopsis</title> Index: ppp-and-slip/chapter.sgml =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D RCS file: /home/ncvs/doc/fr_FR.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/ppp-and-slip/chapte= r.sgml,v retrieving revision 1.8 diff -u -r1.8 chapter.sgml --- ppp-and-slip/chapter.sgml 10 Jul 2004 16:40:06 -0000 1.8 +++ ppp-and-slip/chapter.sgml 20 Sep 2004 17:32:02 -0000 @@ -116,7 +116,8 @@ </sect1> =20 <sect1 id=3D"userppp"> - <title>Using User PPP ** Traduction en Cours **</title> + <sect1info><releaseinfo>Traduction en Cours</releaseinfo></sect1info> + <title>Using User PPP</title> <para></para> </sect1> =20 @@ -1086,7 +1087,8 @@ </sect1> =20 <sect1 id=3D"slip"> - <title>Using SLIP ** Traduction en Cours **</title> + <sect1info><releaseinfo>Traduction en Cours</releaseinfo></sect1info> + <title>Using SLIP</title> <para></para> </sect1> </chapter> Index: printing/chapter.sgml =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D RCS file: /home/ncvs/doc/fr_FR.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/printing/chapter.sg= ml,v retrieving revision 1.3 diff -u -r1.3 chapter.sgml --- printing/chapter.sgml 29 Jul 2002 17:53:40 -0000 1.3 +++ printing/chapter.sgml 20 Sep 2004 17:34:09 -0000 @@ -7,7 +7,10 @@ --> =20 <chapter id=3D"printing"> - <title>Printing ** Traduction en Cours **</title> + <chapterinfo> + <releaseinfo>Traduction en Cours</releaseinfo> + </chapterinfo> + <title>Printing</title> =20 <sect1> <title>Synopsis</title> Index: security/chapter.sgml =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D RCS file: /home/ncvs/doc/fr_FR.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/security/chapter.sg= ml,v retrieving revision 1.10 diff -u -r1.10 chapter.sgml --- security/chapter.sgml 1 Aug 2004 16:38:55 -0000 1.10 +++ security/chapter.sgml 20 Sep 2004 17:32:46 -0000 @@ -107,13 +107,15 @@ </sect1> =20 <sect1 id=3D"security-intro"> - <title>Introduction ** Traduction en Cours **</title> + <sect1info><releaseinfo>Traduction en Cours</releaseinfo></sect1info> + <title>Introduction</title> =20 <para></para> </sect1> =20 <sect1 id=3D"securing-freebsd"> - <title>Securing FreeBSD ** Traduction en Cours **</title> + <sect1info><releaseinfo>Traduction en Cours</releaseinfo></sect1info> + <title>Securing FreeBSD</title> =20 <para></para> </sect1> @@ -1249,7 +1251,8 @@ </sect1> =20 <sect1 id=3D"firewalls"> - <title>Firewalls ** Traduction en Cours **</title> + <sect1info><releaseinfo>Traduction en Cours</releaseinfo></sect1info> + <title>Firewalls</title> =20 <para></para> </sect1> Index: serialcomms/chapter.sgml =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D RCS file: /home/ncvs/doc/fr_FR.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/serialcomms/chapter= =2Esgml,v retrieving revision 1.3 diff -u -r1.3 chapter.sgml --- serialcomms/chapter.sgml 29 Jul 2002 17:53:40 -0000 1.3 +++ serialcomms/chapter.sgml 20 Sep 2004 17:34:13 -0000 @@ -7,7 +7,10 @@ --> =20 <chapter id=3D"serialcomms"> - <title>Serial Communications ** Traduction en Cours **</title> + <chapterinfo> + <releaseinfo>Traduction en Cours</releaseinfo> + </chapterinfo> + <title>Serial Communications</title> =20 <sect1 id=3D"serial-synopsis"> <title>Synopsis</title> --54ZiyWcDhi/7bWb8-- --Tu8ztk+XgTAiG9Id Content-Type: application/pgp-signature Content-Disposition: inline -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.6 (FreeBSD) iD8DBQFBTxivocfcwTS3JF8RAin1AJ9Uo4w/g/41NKADbz7NOhbaK5GRRQCghQZA OPOkqNQhJAza86NaDNK+Cx4= =H1CK -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --Tu8ztk+XgTAiG9Id--
