Hello Gary, I guess anything goes, but try before u buy if you can. I 
was looking for a used disk but got a brand new Samsung SpinPoint 40g so 
cheap I couldn't belive it's not a scam. The disk is fast and you have 
to listen very well to hear it spinning.
