Just do a make world from your latest -stable sup and take a look
through /usr/src/etc by hand to see if there's anything you wish to
merge into your own /etc (your system will continue to work without
this step, but you won't have some of the nifty auto-start features
that a few packages now rely on).

As to how long -stable will continue to run, well, your guess is as
good as mine. :-)  As far as I'm concerned, it died with 2.1.5-RELEASE,
but fortran has shown us all that sometimes the dead refuse to stay
that way. :)
