Unless I'm mistaken, BIND has nothing to do with the resolver library in FreeBSD. The resolver library is part of libc (/usr/src/lib/libc/net/res_*). BIND is only used to provide the name server and associated tools (I don't think libbind is installed at all) . (Not that this really changes anything about bind should be a port or if an asynchronous resolver library should be added to the base system.) David.
