I had never heard of that arrangement, but I'll look into making my
code work for it.  Thanks.

I agree in principle, but let me think about how to implement that.
Suggestions are welcome, of course.

I feel uncomfortable about modifying that code without some indication
from Nate, or our new chieftan Scott, that such a modification would be
accepted.  I really don't want to waste time on code that will never
see the tree.

I do think that setting up the pcic code to take a port at kernel
config time is a reasonable thing to do.
