	There is a solid library of string manipulation functions
	called `publib' authored by Lars Wirzenius (lars.wirzenius@helsinki.fi)
	that was published in one of the sources newsgroups a couple of
	years ago.

	Search for it and you'll find it.  I've hacked a function or two
	of my own to it, but never send it for inclusion.  Prob'ly
	should have.   There is nothing like _not_ having to re-invent
	code.
