I wrote (about 1-2 months ago) that I want to have the latest SA's
listed on the mainpage anyways, not only as a news item, for even those
reasons.

So I fully second this.  However, that would require a much shorter
timespan between the actual exploit/fix and the SA itself.  If the
security-officer team needs more help to accomplish this, I'm sure people
(including me) are willing to volunteer.
