Hello, I am writing this email in regards to the following web page: http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/ports-using.html The specific section would be: "Now create a database with the pkgdb -F command. This will read the list of installed ports and create a database file in the /var/db/pkg directory. Now when you run portupgrade -a, it will read this and the ports INDEX file. Finally, portupgrade will begin to download, build, backup, install, and clean the ports which have been updated. portupgrade comes with a lot of options for different use cases, the most important ones will be presented below." If I am not mistaken (I could very well be mistaken); the index file isn't download when CVS's is run. Either "make fetchindex" or "make index" will create the index (I believe). Should a step be added to the handbook? I may have misinterpreted the document; perhaps I should have double checked with the mailing list. My apologies if I have used the incorrect procedure. Best regards, Pete
