I think the current problem is that we have people who think they have
carte-blanche to do anything they feel like.  Now, in their defense they
often do things that no-one else is willing to do, so it cuts both ways.

I believe -core is (and should be) mostly a political forum, not a
technical forum.  There are too many technical issues that are
understood *well* by people outside of -core, and technical issues
should be discussed by the folks who are most interested in the
technical issues, which in many cases are not -core members.
