What kind of imbecile business developement manager at a phone company doesn't put a DSLM on the end of an optical fiber to reach an area with a 20,000 population which consists mostly of Oracle, IBM, and Microsoft engineers? Who ever heard of an engineer willing to pay for high speed Internet connectivity... oh, wait... that's the number one, single largest market for high speed Internet connectivity. Oh well... gotta amortize the 4ESS we bought back in the early 90's for another year... Could be worse... could be in one of the cities out side St. George, Utah, where they installed a *brand new, shiny mechanical phone switch*. New equipment... gotta amortize *that* for 20 years.
