Depends if multi-platform support is important to you or not. Each of the
BSDs has its own strengths and weaknesses.

It's not that the FreeBSD core team don't want FreeBSD to work across 
more platforms. But it takes people to want to do it before the work starts.

It's a good thing, in and of itself, and will help FreeBSD, if only because
the code cleanup necessary to get code working on a 64 bit processor will
help make it more portable.
