|This procedure worked fine! I now have FreeBSD-3.1-RELEASE installed

I am installing 3.1-RELEASE from ftp via URL

as it is only 2 hops away from me.

it seems to install ok but one thing i would like to know is are there any
packages for FreBSD/alpha or not ??????

Talbot
