Hello,
	Although I got no definitive way to figure out what's going on
with the system hangs I was having, I did get some comments from
Greg Lehey <grog@lemis.com> (thanks!), and did some more investigation.
It seemed that the machine hung whenver it was doing video-related things..
So I swaped out the card, exercised the video (nothing like ls -laR / in one
term and a repeat 100 cat handbook.ascii (1 meg file) in another, plus a
netscape session), and couldn't reproduce the hangs.  Now to return the
video card to the store ...
