I use exmh+glimpse+metamail+pgp exmh allows sorting by date, author or subject. It is easy to setup , etc.. glimpse allows me to search all my mail or on a per folder basis. metamail for handling mime pgp for privacy 8) All of the above with the exception of exmh can be found in the freebsd ports are.
