I recommend using mergemaster, in the ports, to help merge the old /etc
tree and the new one - it will fix all of the ldconfig problems if you can
do that.

Well, Jordan says not to and frankly he's probably right - I mean he wrote
the upgrade procedure as I recall so ...   Anyway, it worked for me, but
may not work for you - you do have backups so that's good.
