Some of us remember 4.1 and 4.2 as well.  :-)

From a pragmatic standpoint, going to release FreeBSD 5.0 and
skipping all 4.x versions avoids confusion and honors the Source.
With this, the sequence remains linear and obvious, and has a
specific reason.
