  Pjd has a workaround for non-LP64 systems in

     cddl/compat/opensolaris/kern/opensolaris_atomic.c

  .. that funnel all 64-bit atomic ops through a single mutex. Not 
particularly efficient but it should still work. Unless I'm missing some 
other code paths here.
