I think that you might be a bit confused about the behaviour.  An ix
port will only be missing if

a) You have a non-Intel SFP+ installed
b) hw.ix.unsupported_sfp=1 is not set in loader.conf

ix ports that have no SFP+ installed do show up in ifconfig
